weekender information

What is the Weekender?

The Weekender is a five day experience that gives a practical view of a healthy church and exists to benefit other local churches, pastors, and students as it seeks to

  • Promote healthy church polity

  • Allow observations of healthy patterns and culture

  • Encourage pastors in local church ministry

Attendees will have the opportunity to observe an elder’s meeting, experience all regularly scheduled services and the preparation involved, as well as spend time discussing the biblical intentionality behind each aspect of our church.

When does the Weekender occur?

The Weekender occurs the 2nd week of November, from Thursday evening to Monday afternoon.

What are the logistics involved?

     Housing

  • Attendees can seek accommodations at any of the nearby hotels.

     Food

  • Meals will be provided on Thursday evening, Friday (lunch and dinner), Sunday (lunch and dinner), and Monday (breakfast and lunch).

     Travel

  • All travel plans will be up to the individual attending.  We ask that all attendees to be at every session in order to receive the best benefit for the conference. With that in mind, attendees would need to arrive for the opening session at 6:30pm on Thursday and begin travel after 2:00pm on Monday.

       Cost

  • Weekender registration is $100 per person.

What should I wear?

  • We want you to relax and enjoy your time in Naples while you take time to consider the local church. Feel free to wear shorts or jeans to Thursday and Friday events. Sunday attire is up to you but most of our congregation will dress business casual or smart casual.

What sessions should I plan to attend?

  • Please plan to attend all scheduled events as it is beneficial to have each participant at every session.

What level of interaction should I expect?

  • Each session on Friday will be discussion oriented. However, please plan to listen and take notes during the Elder’s Meeting on Thursday and all events on Sunday morning and evening. Specific Q&A times we’ll be scheduled after these special meetings.

Will I have time to ask questions about what I am seeing and experiencing?

  • It is natural to formulate questions during a Weekender. There are built in times to ask those questions of various elders. Please take advantage of these opportunities by writing down your questions during events.

What can I do on Saturday?

  • Saturday is your day for rest and refreshment. You are free to use it as you wish. Meals are not provided on Saturday but there are lots of great options available near Faith Bible Church.

What will my wife do?

  • There is no expectation for your wife to attend any sessions during the weekender. We certainly would welcome her for the 9 AM Sunday Seminars and 10:15 AM service. Wives can also join the Thursday night and Friday night dinner times. If it would be helpful, some of our ladies would love to spend time with your wife to be an encouragement to her.
